Track Review: Over The Target

It's about that time Vision and Vibes family!  We've got some new music to showcase today from an upcoming artist by way of Michigan.  The rapper goes by the name Chronik Kid, who is attempting to make a name for himself.  His latest track titled "Over The Target" displays the message he tries to carry through his music; love, unity and overcoming any obstacles.  The rapper describes his music as a "calling from God that he had at a young age".  The track itself has a mid-tempo vibe with deep lyricism and thought provoking bars.  Let's review the track and discuss the ins and outs of new single by the Michigan rapper.

Upon just glancing at the track, you can tell Chronik Kid isn't here to play around.  The single stretches nearly 4 and a half minutes long, which is rare in this rap era.  The production has a raw and intense feel to it.  The drums hit hard enough and with a very dark sounding piano playing in the background.  Chronik's vocals take front stage as he describes a very corrupt system designed to keep you "dumb" and living in fear.

The track is littered with agendas and conspiracy theory.  The way Chronik spits bars, you would swear he is leading a revolution.  I will say that your mind has to be ready to receive the type of talk thats spoken on this track.  This isn't the "bob your head and party" type of single, but its a cautionary tale of a corrupt world.  Overall, the track is thought provoking and filled with great lyricism.  If we had to criticize anything it would be that Chronik's delivery wasn't the most ear-grabbing.  With a track stretching rather long, it's slightly disappointing not to hear a hook to help keep the listener engaged.  Be sure to check out his socials and stream the track below which is also featured on our playlist via Spotify.
